I also did not have my capture card plugged in. I am testing this by muting and unmuting my mic in discord. They are also my headphones)Īfter I plugged in my capture card, before I could try a test recording, I noticed the Audio output capture I had for discord was no longer working, and despite clearly being routed to go out to a different audio output, it kept being forced into the desktop audio part of the audio mixer as shown here. (For clarity, the Realtek speakers device is my normal one when not using OBS. I set everything up as usual beforehand as shown here. That suddenly changed this March when I decided to test plugging in my Elgato Game Capture HD60 S into OBS to give the monitoring feature a try. I followed this tutorial (which has me set the audio cables to be audible through my usual headphones), and I was able to use Elgato Sound Capture in place of getting extra VB Audio cables by donating, it worked like a charm. So a few months before January this year, I've been using VB Audio cable with OBS to separate my desktop and discord audio into two different tracks for recording because I thought Voicemeeter banana looked too complex for what I was trying to do. Since I've seen VB audio cable mentioned here according to the search bar, I figured I'd share my issue here. Thanks to /u/iTruthful and Conceptional for the art!
