The gameplay of God of War focuses on combo-based combat, achieved through the player’s main weapon-the Blades of Chaos-and a secondary weapon acquired later in the game. As Ares besieges Athens out of hatred for Athena, Kratos embarks on a quest to find the one object capable of stopping the god once and for all: Pandora’s Box. The goddess Athena tasks Kratos with killing Ares, the God of War and Kratos’ former mentor who tricked Kratos into killing his wife and daughter. The player controls the protagonist Kratos, a Spartan warrior who serves the Olympian Gods. Loosely based on Greek mythology, it is set in ancient Greece with vengeance as its central motif. First released on March 22, 2005, for the PlayStation 2 (PS2) console, it is the first installment in the series of the same name and the third chronologically. God of War is a third-person hack and slash action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). Play as Kratos, a member of Spartan, who is going to become a hero and god facing enemies.

Sadly, there will be more waiting left to be done as far as a PC release is concerned. Will be worth the waitĪfter years of waiting, the sequel to the universally acclaimed God of War is nigh. However, with Sony's in-house game studio, Playstation Studios, and its efforts in bringing its PS exclusives to other platforms, it's really only a matter of time before it arrives in the PC space. It will come out on November 9, 2022, but it will be exclusive to the PS4 and PS5 only. Now, just like its predecessor, this sequel will not be a Day One release on PCs. Together with Atreus' improved archery skills, a set of new skills and abilities provided by weapon runes, you will have access to a variety of ways to help you face enemies, creatures, and Norse gods throughout the realms. You can expect to wield Kratos' arsenal of weapons from his signature Leviathan Ax and Guardian Shield, and of course, the iconic Blades of Chaos. With God of War Ragnarök, the father-son Norse adventure continues as Atreus seeks answers to the Loki prophecy while Kratos continues to battle his past and inner demons to try to be a father to the boy. The God of War reboot back in 2018 provided a touching and grounded tale, and that speaks volumes for a franchise that has predominantly occupied itself with violence and gore.
